Barbara Steinberg, Altia Solutions U.S. Software Reseller of their Financial Crimes Detection Software.Barbara likes to compare herself to Victor Kiam who said “I liked the shaver so much, I bought the company”. While she didn’t buy the company, she was so happy as a customer of Altia Solutions that she stepped up to be their U.S. reseller.

Barbara has been an entrepreneur for many years starting businesses in technology, financial services and elder care financial planning. For the past 10 years, she has been helping the elderly and their families apply for Veterans’ benefits and Medicaid to pay for their long term care. Medicaid applications require the analysis of 5 years of bank and other financial statements. While watching her employees struggle with this tedious, labor intensive process, she said “there has to be a better way”. She searched the internet but could not find a U.S. company with a product to automate this process. Her search took her to the U.K. where she did find several companies that offered software solutions. Since European bank statements are much less diverse and complex than U.S. statements, she needed the right fit. She found that with Altia Solutions. For over 2 years, her Medicaid company has used their software to process hundreds of applications. The software was a perfect fit right out-of-the-box.


Barbara started her career in technology with a B.S. in Medicaid Computer Science from SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Following that, she studied Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University and graduated with an M.S. in Electrical Engineering. To round out her business knowledge, she earned an MBA in Management of Science and Engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
